"Thankyou for showing us your curios", 2020

Cotton rag paper, six concertinas,

each 12 x 78cm

Ponch Hawkes has a long established photographic practice. Her work explores the

themes of the body, the environment, community and relationships through a feminist perspective often using her imagery to engage in contemporary critical debates

The series "Thankyou for showing us your curios", has emerged from Hawkes’ studies at Latrobe College. Starting with the notion that humans regard ourselves as the top

species, this work examines the myriad ways animals form part of our existence

on the planet.
